Bar snacks and light lunches are available during the
week (homemade Lasagne, our delicious Black Bull burger,
hot baguettes, our house Chicken Caesar salad…)
Our aim is really quite simple: to serve delicious
seasonal dishes inspired by traditional pub food, our
surroundings and local produce available and our passion
for real food. We use honey from George Shepard, who
lives in the village, Rhubarb from Sarah, who kindly
lets me scrumpy from her garden, as well eggs & flour
from Whissendine, herbs from our garden. Locally caught
trout from Rutland Water. We also are to exchange the
odd pint for home-grown produce.
Be sure to visit us on a Sunday for our roast lunch,
washed down with a glass of fine ale or a bottle of
wine, from our carefully selected wine list with the
help of George Hill Wines of Loughborough.
While our menu changes weekly, some of the dishes you
can expect to find on our delicious menu include our
fantastic steaks (well hung! For 28 days) from Harkers
Farm , our legendary Steak’n’ Theasktons ale pie, Sea
bass with cherry tomatoes & basil mash, Calves liver,
smoked garlic mash and rich pan gravy. For pudding – our
horribly delicious brownie with almond and vanilla
ice-cream, White chocolate and rhubard cheesecake,
Sticky ginger pudding with ginger wine sauce: vanilla
crème brulee. If you want to be truly wicked we have a
great selection of pudding wines.
If you can’t be tempted by our homemade puddings then
how about trying our cheeseboard, with some local
cheeses and some not so …Colston Bassett Stilton, Brie
de Meaux, Rosary Ash Goats cheese and wensleydale with a
piece of our own Yorkshire fruit cake.
All our food is homemade on site and our puddings are so
popular that we have started a pudding club – on the
last Friday of every month.
